File Explorer
The File Explorer provides a Finder-like column view for navigating your workspace.
Opening the Explorer
Press ⌘B to toggle the file explorer sidebar.
Navigation
Column View
The explorer uses a column-based navigation similar to macOS Finder:
- Click a folder to open it in the next column
- Navigate horizontally through your folder structure
- Each column shows the contents of the selected folder
Keyboard Navigation

Selection
Single Selection
Click an item to select it.
Multi-Selection
- Shift+Click - Select a range of items
- ⌘+Click - Toggle individual items in selection
Quick Look
Press Space to preview the selected note without opening it. This shows a modal preview that can be dismissed with Space or Escape.
Creating Items
- New Note - Right-click context menu or ⌘N
- New Folder - Right-click context menu
Drag and Drop
- Drag items to reorder within a folder
- Drag items between folders to move them
- Hold while dragging to scroll the view
View Modes
Toggle between fixed and floating modes using the command palette: type >toggle floating to find the command.
